For the past few months, the world has seen America's staunch backing for the uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East. Libyan rebels and Syria's opposition have been treated to platitudes about spreading freedom and democracy.
However the most recent remarks by the Secretary of State suggest the US is realizing it may have made a bad situation worse. Also, among the uprisings backed by Washington was the revolution in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood is now threatening mass protests and new martyrs if parliamentary elections are postponed.
