North Koreans visited a cemetery on Sunday (September 30) to express their thanks and gratitude to former and current leaders in an annual event held on Harvest Moon Day.
Video provided for Reuters by North Korea's state-run KCNA showed Pyongyang residents visiting the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Pyongyang.
They paid homage to the "martyrs" who had sacrificed themselves to uphold the idea and leadership of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, father of current leader Kim Jong-un.
A wreath sent by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was also seen at the cemetery.
Seoul's Unification Ministry says North Korea observes a one-day holiday to celebrate the traditional Korean Thanksgiving Day on the day which is also known as Harvest Moon Day.
South Korea observes a three-day holiday which is called "Chuseok."
