A $3 million auction is being held for an Einstein letter in which he expressed doubts about God.
A letter hand written by the world-renowned physicist Albert Einstein regarding his views on God and religion is up for eBay auction. The auction will run from October 8th to the 18th. The starting bid for the letter is 3 million dollars. Written about a year before Einstein’s death, the letter expresses his attitudes about specific religions, and says that God is"nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish." Einstein also expressed his doubts about Judaism and the claim that Jews are the chosen people of God. The letter has been put up for auction before, back in 2008 when it was sold for 4 hundred 4 thousand dollars in London.
It is being sold along with its original envelope and stamp. Though the letter touches on Einstein’s personal feelings about religion, he is often quoted as saying “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”
