Shooting Ash: Video of powerful volcano eruption in Indonesia

2010-09-03 2 Dailymotion

An Indonesian volcano that was quiet for 4 centuries shot a new, powerful burst of hot ash more than 3 kilometres (10-thousand feet) into the air, sending frightened residents fleeing to safety for the 2nd time this week. The tremor from the eruption - the strongest so far - could be felt 8 km (5 miles) away. The eruption of Mount Sinabung on Sunday and Monday - which caught many scientists off guard - forced 30-thousand people living along its fertile slopes in North Sumatra province to evacuate to cramped emergency shelters in nearby towns.
