Kosovo declared its independence on February 17. This declaration was approved by the U.S. and some major European powers, even though the UN doesn't recognise this self-proclaimed independence. Justifying their policy, western politicians often cite alleged atrocities committed in Kosovo by the Yugoslav government back in the 1990s and put all the blame on the former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic. But how fair are these accusations?
