Gold prices fell slightly on the news of the debt-ceiling extension, as safe-haven demand for the metal diminished as a result of the forestalling. Despite closing on January 23rd slightly weaker -- just about one quarter of one percent lower than yesterday -- gold prices continue to hold close to a one-month high.
