A big political fight has broken out between the ruling Congress and the opposition Left in Kerala over Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien. The Left, led by veteran VS Achuthanandan, is demanding a re-investigation in the 1996 Suryanelli Gangrape case and wants the allegation against Kurien should be probed once again. Chief Minister Oomen Chandy and his state Government, however, out rightly rejected the Left's demand saying that the complaint against the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson had already been dismissed by the Supreme Court.
