The streets of Washington D.C. are awash in the color green as the Nation's capital put on its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

People of all ages celebrated the day.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PARADE SPECTATOR, TODD ALLEN, SAYING:

"It's just wonderful coming out and seeing everyone out here just trying to be Irish for a day."

The parade has been held since 1971. Organisers say the parade is a way to celebrate Irish Culture in America.

St. Patrick's Day was also honored at the White House, with its fountain running green.
