Surveillance cameras at an animal reserve in China caught a giant panda trying and failing to climb up a tree when a powerful earthquake hit southwestern China's Sichuan province on Saturday (April 20), state media reported.
Bifengxia Giant Panda Reserve is 50 kilometres (31 miles) from Ya'an, the epicentre of the 6.6 magnitude quake.
CCTV said the panda was playing in the garden when the quake struck. There are a total of 61 pandas in the reserve, and none of them was hurt in the quake, it added.
Breeders said they tried to spend more time with the pandas and fed them with more food to make them feel safe, CCTV reported.
Saturday's earthquake killed 192 people, left 23 missing, and injured more than 11,000, state media said.
